Activity & Description
Awareness of Communicable Diseases.(RTI)
Initially brain storming for students made them to understand and interaction with them was very informative. Students shared their views and participated actively in a group activity. Presented after group discussion in front of the classmates, told that it’s very interesting and opportunity for them.

Objective/ Goal
To know about student knowledge and provide required more information on Communicable diseases.
To aware them about preventive action against those diseases.

Strategies:
Distributed drawing sheets to each of the group to write about communicable diseases by forming four groups.
Each group has presented.
Shown video at the end.
Two groups handled by each fellow.

Challenges:
To take permission from principal.
To control huge number of students.

By knowing their subject knowledge we explained.

Students are interested to know about RTI and wanted to do it practically.

Blood donation awareness in Women’s Ded College, Hubli
We have conducted a blood donation awareness programme for Ded college students.

Objective/ Goal
To motivate and provide information of importance of blood.
To make them understand the function of blood in our body.

Strategies:
Interacted with principal and got the permission.
In their busy time we have utilized their time to make them understand the importance of blood.
With Power point and pictures presentation made them to understand clearly about Blood groups.

Challenges:
Convincing principal for conducting activity.

We learnt about blood and taught to students.
Ded students responded this is the helpful for them to teach.

In our effort to work on improve the environment, we organised an awareness session in Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha school .The well known video “An Inconvenient Truth” was screened and a question answer session was organized to answer to the curiosity of the school kids.

Ways to avoid plastic use were discussed and kids were asked to persuade their parents to carry a cloth bag instead of using plastic bags every time they went out to shop.

The Global warming issue was explained in simple language using local examples and local language.

The Flame Orange Team conducted Cycle Rally on 19^th October 2008 with the objective of creating awareness among people about keeping the environment clean and saving it from hazards and plastic. The children of Sakhare English Medium School, Vidya Nagar also participated along with the team. The rally started from BVB campus at 4 pm consisting of 25 participants, and reached Rani Chennamma circle via Hosur road where two of the fellows spoke on the importance of avoiding plastic, importance of planting trees and effect of Gutkha on health. Then rally proceeded towards Nrupatunga Hill via Desai Circle covering the distance 8kms, addressing the slogans such as, “Future is Nature”, “Cycle Cycle Recycle”, “Save tree, Save life”, “Cleanliness is Godliness”, “Promote green, Plant green, Practice green” etc. Finally, the team reached Nrupatunga hill at 5.30pm. The objective of the rally was addressed to the people at the hill through speech and the work done by Flame Orange Team was highlighted through photo exhibition. About 300 people were addressed throughout the rally.

The Flame Orange Team is thankful to Department of Police, Hubli, HDMC, Department of Traffic police and school students for their priceless support in making the rally successful.

One such innovative programme is Fellowship programme. Fellowship programme is aimed to build the skilled based of individuals & convert their knowledge into action. Youths selected from various parts of India with diversified education background are trained here. The fellowship programme stands apart from other programmes because it breaks the myths towards development sector. Fellows are tested for their character & actions through various modules. One such module is village stay. Through village stay fellows understand the real crux of development & sees villages through their first hand experience.

The fellowship breaks the existing model of academic teaching. Every module is designed such that learning’s are experiential & fellows apply their learning’s through actions. Fellows communicate their learning’s through various tools such as blogs, Newsletter etc. There is a all round evaluation & every actor of fellowship programme is made accountable

The learning’s are not limited to classrooms. Fellows take various Leadership initiatives and learn the dynamics of problem solving, team building, organizational development etc through actions. The managerial functions are learned through Leadership actions. Fellows understand their strength & weakness through these leadership initiatives.

The fellows are taught to set standard of excellence through their performance
